Hamartia

HAMARTIA

literature . the flaw in character which leads to the downfall of the protagonist in a tragedy























Its face was too interesting
And it loved nothing so much
As showing it off constantly
This hamartia cost it its head
Collected as décor for a palace

Yes, poor thing.
So hamartia is a fatal flaw! Aha. I knew the Greek word only as "sin," like in the NT.
Like the Hebrew word choteh, it means "missing the mark" (like in archery), which I think is a nice way to look at sin.
