1. Playing lightly on or over a surface; flickering
2. Softly bright or radiant; luminous;
3. Light and brilliant

Lambent marble
Hardly containing the light within
The ecstasy that burns the flesh
And sears the soul.

Hey there, Nat! I haven't been much around the LJ, thought I'd drop in here to see what wonderful stuff you've created. And what do I find? Bernini and the one statue that has always given me pause.

How are you doing? Still so busy? Hope you're well.

This statue is not much worse than the Ecstasy of St. Theresa, you know...

To show you how far out of it I am these days... I thought it WAS the Ecstasy of St. Theresa. Ha! I do recall this statue also, but now who the saint is. Oh dear. It is BErnini, though, right?

Okay... never mind. Found it in the book used during my university course on Bernini. Blessed Ludovica Albertoni. San Francesco a Ripa. ***slinks away with head hanging down***
