Frisson

FRISSON

-noun
a sudden, passing sensation of excitement; a shudder of emotion; thrill

Just
A
Moment
Bare shivers
From the Earth’s shoulders
Is all it takes: a mere frisson
Crumpling worlds and lives to dramatic origami
Jigsaw puzzle missing pieces, blood along edges
Torn corners that will never fit
Never be cradled
Or held tight
Again
Sick
Earth

'Crumpling worlds and lives to dramatic origami'.
So descriptive and yet succinct!
But I must take issue with you. The earth is not sick, It is rejuvenating, shaking itself like a dog and we are the 'fleas on the dog's back'!

I think it would do well to get rid of us who are poisoning it every day. But it's been shaking rather a lot in the past two years.

Thinking of those affected by the earthquake in NZ...very timely post.

That was my inspiration indeed. I saw the picture right after the news of the earthquake yesterday.

I saw 'earthquake' in the Magpie photo .. before I knew of the devastation in New Zealand.

Your poem is sobering, and beautifully composed.

Poor sick earth. Well done, Nathalie.

Crumpling worlds and lives to dramatic origami... hands down my favorite line. This is very well done and yes we must nurse our earth back to health.
