I seek the faintest trace of fog
On the mirror,
A sign you might still be there,
That you still thrive and sigh,
Measured in wisps of vapour,
In faint feeble heartbeats.
But the mirror does not collaborate,
Stubborn,
Refusing to reflect life's shadow,
To bear ghosts and witness,
Pristine in its defiance,
The statement all too clear.

A perfect word choice for today. And I LOVED your poem. So touching. I can relate too.
Hugs, G
I felt this one the way one feels an absence. An aching, yearning tender pain.
SandyCarlson beat me to the punch ... so I am going to acquiesce to her comment.
.. all i can say now is that i hope i used the word properly.
Heartbreakingly beautiful. Jealous of your brilliance. :)
Unanswered plea. 'Pristine in its defiance' is the perfect phrase for this lovely piece.
The use of the mirror here is just wonderful... Touching imagery... Thanks for this one.
the tender ache that comes through the poem is surreal!
Beautiful and stark.
Mirrors are obtuse and unforgiving. the breath you are searching for lives elsewhere.
