Monogram

MONOGRAM

–noun
1. a design consisting of two or more alphabetic letters combined or interlaced, commonly one's initials, often printed on stationery, embroidered on clothing, etc.

–verb (used with object)
3. to decorate with a monogram.

In
the
cupboard,
Tarnishes
Ancient silverware
Unused, devoid of monogram
Murmuring about the wedding day that never came.

The wedding day had been set for September that year
On the last Sunday of summer.
But the war stroke first
Stealing light
Husband
And
Life.

Clever take, the missing monogram. Now that you mention it, it does need one in the center of the laurel wreath! Lovely.

So clever -- to see the story in what isn't there.

Makes me wonder why its missing a monogram? Perhaps the owner was a woman who never married or perhaps the owner thought it was too beautiful to have someone's name etched in. I like your take on the photograph.

Nathalie,
Very intriquing this. And who, pray tell, is now the proud owner of this trouseau item? Nicely formed!
